Sometimes different kinds of plants need different types of diets. Cacti in particular need care and fertilizer that is a little different than their tropical and non-tropical friends. Periodic fertilizing along with the proper light, water and soil will them strong, healthy and make them more colorful/vibrant. If you kill all plants and have even had bad luck with cacti, a balanced fertilizer and feeding "schedule" can help you stay more in sync and in touch with your cactus to ensure it thrives.
Mother Co. developed a Cactus Fertilizer that can be diluted in water and used on your spiky friends over time. It's an all-natural and urea-free 7-7-7 balanced N-P-K formula specifically designed for cactus. The formula includes complete micronutrients and essential minerals. (If you are curious about what 7-7-7 means, the 1st number is nitrogen content, the 2nd is the phosphorus content and the 3rd number is the potassium content, all of which are calibrated to a level that provides the most balanced mix for specific types of plants based on their needs.)
How & When to Use: During their active growth periods, cactus require fertilizer. However, too much fertilizer will stunt growth and weaken the plant. Avoid overfeeding them as this will give them the chance to stay healthy. Knowing when to feed them is important because you don’t want to inhibit growth. Fertilizing 1-3 times per year is adequate and preferably during spring, fall and summer. That said, some cacti do grow in winter, so make sure you fertilize them during that season.
