"I swing an Estwing" is a motto amongst proud Estwing hammer owners. For nearly 100 years the brand has held the Gold Standard for hammers, pioneering its unique body that's forged from one single piece of steel rather than made of disparate parts. This singular, solid construction is why many say they're unbreakable.

This 16 oz. straight claw steel hammer is a bit heavier than an entry-level 8oz, making it a great size that is useful for small everyday tasks (i.e. hanging art), but can also flex to do some bigger projects (i.e. making your own garden or flower bed).  The straight claw (vs. the classic curved claw) allows you to do more than just use this hammer as a hammer! You can use it to do things like split small pieces of wood or lumber, dig small holes, break up ice, rip up floorboards or even punch through dry wall. Lastly, it has the signature Estwing laminated leather grip that makes it easier and more comfortable to handle by reducing shock.

Ernest Estwing was a machinist who noticed fellow workers were getting tendinitis and found it uncomfortable to swing a hammer made of wood all day.  So he decided to create a better option for them right in his basement, and ever since then steel framing hammers have accompanied nearly every construction worker and carpenter across the United States.  Though made for professionals, they're a forever-tool for anyone who wants to graduate to a more versatile and powerful hammer.
